Meta is opening its advertising ecosystem to third-party AI agents. The company moved its Meta ads AI connectors into open beta for eligible advertisers globally, letting them run and manage campaigns through their preferred AI assistants — including any tool that speaks the Model Context Protocol (MCP), such as ChatGPT and Claude, with Perplexity added to the supported list.
This is a notable reversal of walled-garden instinct. Meta is letting outside agents reach into its campaign machinery rather than forcing everyone through Ads Manager.
The numbers in this piece
01What’s actually shipping
- MCP-based connectors so external AI assistants can create and manage Meta campaigns programmatically.
- Meta AI business assistant in Ads Manager expanded to all advertisers and agencies worldwide.
- A growing automation suite: AI instant forms, new Pixel collection controls, 730-day purchase audiences, faster creative testing, globally available Advantage+ Leads Campaigns.
- The endgame Meta keeps testing: an advertiser enters a product URL and a budget, and AI generates the full campaign — creative, targeting, placements, budget allocation across Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp.
The scale behind this is real: 4M+ advertisers now use Meta’s generative-AI tools, producing 15M+ AI-enhanced ads per month, and Advantage+ campaigns are delivering ~22% higher ROAS than manually managed ones.
02Why marketers should care
| Your assistant can now change live Meta campaigns | The ads AI connectors are in open beta globally for eligible advertisers, reachable by any tool that speaks MCP — ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity among them. Campaign management moves into a chat window, with everything that implies for speed and for oversight. |
|---|---|
| The agent interface is becoming the buying surface everywhere at once | Meta this week, Google's Ask Advisor at GML, TikTok's MCP server. Whatever governance you build here will be needed three more times this year. |
| Convenience and control are the trade | A prompt that reallocates budget in seconds is a real improvement and a real hazard, and which one it is depends entirely on the permissions you set first. |
03What marketers should do
04The bottom line
Meta opening to MCP agents is another brick in the same wall every platform is building this month: the campaign is becoming a conversation with an agent, and the platforms with the cleanest signal and the simplest prompt win the budget. Publishers need to be legible to those agents — or be invisible to them.
